Senior doctors in England will strike for two days on 25 and 26 November in a BMA pay and conditions dispute; emergency care is unaffected but thousands of appointments will be postponed, and Health Secretary Yvette Cooper called the decision irresponsible. Actor Walter Koenig, who played Chekov in Star Trek, died aged 90.

Storm Bulow brought high winds to Scotland and northern England, and a man died after being hit by a tree in Dumfries and Galloway. Amber warnings were in place, with flooding and road closures, more than 80,000 households without power, and flights, trains and public events cancelled after gusts of 84mph were recorded. Largs in Ayrshire and Dumbarton on the River Clyde were flooded, and 17 warnings were in place across Scotland.
