Harry Kane's Ballon d'Or win took the longest single slot at 6 min 42 sec, while the bulletin opened with the Winchester Crown Court trial of four men accused of sexual offences against Joanne Young. The King's Caribbean tour ran 5 min 57 sec and Bill Bailey's Vaudevillian tour 5 min 59 sec, with the Budget, Poundland and Russell Brand trial filling the middle. 5 News led on Storm Bulow, reporting two deaths, one in North London and one in Dumfries and Galloway, and 39,000 homes without power. It showed a house sliced in two in Darlington, flooding in Belfast, a fallen tree in Stockton-on-Tees and damage at Whitby Abbey, with the west coast of Scotland among the worst hit. In Saltcoats firefighters pumped water from homes, a care home was cut off and residents used sandbags; a 60-year-old botanic garden curator was named as a victim. A tree surgeon said saturated ground, leaves and high winds raised the risk of more trees falling, and further strong-wind warnings were reported.

A clean-up operation is under way after Storm Bulo caused flooding and property damage and left thousands of homes without power. Two people were killed by falling trees during the storm on Sunday, a man in his 20s in North London and a six-year-old in Dumfries and Galloway. The Energy Networks Association said around 90,000 properties were still without power.
